The Property
Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU sits right in downtown Tempe, and it's built around a Southwest desert aesthetic through and through. Warm tones, clean lines, natural textures. Which meant the art needed to feel like one cohesive collection across the property, without losing the specific sense of place in each room.
The Artwork
For the guest rooms and suites, we created a series of custom framed artwork designed to reflect the hotel's Southwest desert setting. In the bathrooms, framed photographic prints capture the region's red rock landscape, a quiet, grounding touch in an otherwise minimal space. Above the beds and in the suite living areas, we created grids of abstract linear artwork in warm, earthy tones, echoing the natural textures and colour palette found throughout the region. In the wet bar nook, a black-and-white architectural photograph adds a more graphic, local touch to the space.
The Suite
The Room A neutral, textured space with a patterned wallcovering, walnut accents and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over downtown Tempe.
The Art A four-piece grid hangs above the sofa, mixing abstract linear studies in rust, slate and olive tones - Canyon Weave, Basin Contour, Desert Bloom and Ridgeline Drift. Each piece is built from the layered, hand-drawn line work with variation in colour and direction. The palette pulls straight from the room's leather ottomans and rust-tones accents, tying the wall back into the furniture.
Accessible Deluxe Room
The Room Grey walls, a walnut headboard and a view out over the ASU campus and the Papago Buttes beyond.
The Art Above the bed, a pair of art pieces work in scale and contrast. Salt River Grid is the anchor, a large vintage-map print of the Salt River Reservation area rendered in deep navy with rust-tones staining and white cartographic linework, set in a warm gold frame. Beside it, a smaller companion piece, Woven Divide, takes a more abstract turn, a diamond-shaped study inspired by ceramic craftsmanship shifting from slate blue to rust across the centre. The two share the same palette but work at different registers, one literal and archival, the other abstracted, so the pairing reads as a kind of translation of the same landscape.
Wet Bar
The Room A built-in wet bar in warm walnut, with open shelving and a mini fridge finished in ASU maroon.
The Art A single black-and-white architectural photograph, Structural Frame, framed above the bar. It's a graphic study in raw geometry, it's the one purely architectural piece in the collection, a nod to the region's modernist, brutalist-leaning buildings rather than its natural one.
The Bathroom
The Room A bathroom finished in soft grey tile with a backlit vanity mirror.
The Art Papago Sunset, a frame photographic print of the red rock formations at Papago Park, warmed by late-afternoon light.
