The Property
Hilton Garden Inn Denver Downtown builds its design language around the city itself - the Denver skyline, the surrounding Rocky Mountain landscape, and the plains and wildlife that sit just outside the city limits. The hotel spans guest rooms, meeting and event spaces, a dining area, and a fitness centre, each with its own distinct look and feel. That meant our artworks and custom wallcoverings needed to carry a consistent visual identity across a wide range of spaces, while still feeling tailored to each one.
The Artwork
For this project, we created custom wallcoverings and artwork across the property, all built around Denver's skyline, street grid and native landscape. In the guest rooms, a large-scale wall mural blends the Denver skyline with the open plains and native wildlife into a bold, immersive backdrop behind the bed. In the fitness centre, a mountain line-art mural layered with bison imagery carries the same visual language into a different setting. In the lobby corridor, a striking double-exposure design combines a bison silhouette with the city skyline, paired with dimensional accent lighting. At the front desk and throughout the public areas, the same sense of place continues in custom dibond installations, photographic art and Colorado-inspired wall decor.
Front Desk
The Room The reception desk sits under a curved ceiling, framed by wood and marble check-in counters.
The Art Mile High Grid is a custom Denver street map piece on dibond, spanning the wall behind the desk - a laser-cut metal overlay of the city's street network printed on a dark reception wallcovering. The pattern loosens at the edges and tightens into downtown's grid at the centre, grounding the lobby design in a real sense of place. Its warm copper tone ties into the oak and marble at the counters.
Corridor
The Room A corridor with warm golden accent lighting angled along the wall.
The Art Denver Double Exposure is the corridor's signature wall mural, blending a bison silhouette with the Denver skyline in a single double-exposure image over open prairie grassland. The wayfinding elements are fluorescent acrylic bars mounted on clear acrylic background, layered on standoffs over the printed wallcoverings - a dimensional, glowing detail that doubles as directional signage, echoing the mural's angular skyline lines. It's the clearest expression of the property's whole design story brought together in one custom, localized wall mural.
Lounge and Corridor
The Room A quieter, gallery-style seating nook off the main lobby, with a banquette sofa, a walnut drum coffee table and a patterned carpet grounding the space.
The Art Three pieces of Denver landmark photography make up the lounge's gallery wall: Gateway Peaks, capturing the Denver International Airport rooftop at dusk; Steel Skyline Arc, an upward shot through an arched steel-truss dome with the skyline below; and Red Rocks at Rest, a golden-hour view of Red Rocks Amphitheater. Matched frames and hanging heights tie the set together as a loose triptych of the city.
King Bedroom
The Room A king guestroom.
The Art Skyline on the Plains is the large-scale Denver skyline wall mural behind the headboard, blending the Front Range with open Colorado prairie and a grazing bison. Across the room, a smaller framed piece of bison wall art, Herd on the Range, echoes the same prairie imagery, extending the custom headboard wallcovering's story into the rest of the room.
King Bed Bathroom
The Room A guest bathroom with a glass shower enclosure and granite-topped vanity.
The Art A framed piece of art featuring photography of a lark bunting, Colorado's state bird, hangs beside the vanity. It's a small dose of Colorado wildlife that keeps the local theme going even in the bathroom.
King Bed Junior Suite
The Room A working corner with a desk, mesh office chair and mini-fridge console, opening onto a small seating area with a loveseat and leather accent chair.
The Art Above the desk, Autumn Study is a close, warm-toned piece of autumn leaf photography. Over the sofa, Boulder Creek opens back into Rocky Mountain landscape photography - an alpine creek threading through sunlit boulders and forest - rounding out the room's guest room art.
King Bed Junior Suite
The Room A separate living area within a suite, with a sofa, leather wingback chair and dresser-mounted TV.
The Art Canyon Falls is a piece of Colorado waterfall photography - a rock canyon rendered with a textured, painterly edge. This canyon wall art sits beside the seating group, adding a cooler, more rugged note against the room's warm wood tones.
Dining Area
The Room An open dining space with wood-slat partitions, cafe seating and pendant lighting.
The Art A framed photograph of the Denver skyline at golden hour, mountains glowing behind the towers and open plains in the foreground, anchors the main dining wall. The Front Range cityscape art plays as a warmer, sunrise companion to the front desk's graphic city map.
Restaurant / Bar
The Room A dining and bar space with free tile, brick accent walls and tufted banquette seating.
The Art Union Depot is a close-up shot of a weathered trunk latch, a nod to Denver's railway history. Rail Junction pairs with it, a graphic overhead shot of crisscrossing train tracks. Together, this railroad-inspired, vintage travel wall art brings a travel-and-transit theme to the restaurant.
Fitness Centre
The Room The hotel gym, outfitted with cardio and strength equipment against a full-wall mural.
The Art Front Range Herd is the fitness centre's mountain line-art mural, white lifework peaks layered over a photographic bison mural crossing open grassland. This gym wallcovering carries the same skyline-and-wildlife language from the guest rooms into a graphic, high-contrast format.
Meeting Room
The Room Flexible meeting space, set up boardroom with a neutral carpet and projection screens.
The Art Three pieces of abstract meeting room art bring warmth into the neutral meeting space: a circular mixed-media piece in rust and slate tones, a grid of weathered stained circles, and a woven basket-check pattern in rust, a cream and black. This earth-tones, textured wall art draws from the same mineral palette found throughout the property.
