Finding the right frame for your print doesn’t have to be complicated. IKEA offers a wide range of affordable frames in sizes that perfectly match standard prints, from small 8×10 pieces to bold 24×36 statement art. This quick guide helps you pair your print with the right IKEA frame.

Already Have an IKEA Frame? Here’s the PI Prints Size That Fits

You found the print. Maybe you already have a frame at home that you love and want to reuse, or maybe you’re planning a trip to IKEA on the weekend anyway. Either way, you ordered the print unframed, and now it’s sitting on your console table, looking gorgeous and slightly lost, waiting for the right frame to give it a home.

The good news: IKEA carries off-the-shelf frames in the exact sizes our prints come in. The trick is knowing which print matches which frame, because not every PI size has a one-to-one IKEA twin, and not every frame is created equal.

Here’s the cheat sheet, organized by print size. Canadian or American, the IKEA frame names and dimensions are the same in both countries.

The IKEA frames we’ll be matching to:

Before we can start matchmaking, it helps to know who you’re dealing with. The lineup shifts now and then, but the players you’ll likely find in store and online right now are:

  • KNOPPÄNG
  • RÖDALM
  • LOMVIKEN
  • FISKBO
  • EDSBRUK
  • HÄCKHAGTORN
  • KLOTKÖRSBÄR
  • PLOMMONTRÄD
  • SILVERHÖJDEN

Alright. To the matches.

8x10" prints (and 10x8" horizontals) (20x25cm)

The smallest size we offer, and arguably the most versatile. These are perfect for desk styling, bedside nooks, narrow hallways, or filling out a gallery wall.

  • EDSBRUK 8x10”
  • FISKBO 8x10"
  • HÄCKHAGTORN 8x10”
  • KNOPPÄNG 8x10" (no mat)

  • RÖDALM 8x10”
  • SILVERHÖJDEN 8x10”

12x16" prints (and 16x12" horizontals) (31x41cm)

Possibly the most IKEA-friendly size we sell. This one drops straight into a frame with zero fuss.

  • EDSBRUK 12x16”

16x20" prints (and 20x16" horizontals) (41x51cm)

The size where a print starts to feel like a piece. Big enough to anchor a wall above a console or sofa, small enough to not commit your whole vibe to one image.

  • EDSBRUK 16x20”
  • FISKBO 16x20”
  • HÄCKHAGTORN 16x20”
  • KNOPPÄNG 16x20" (no mat)

The big one. Statement art for big walls.

  • RÖDALM 24x36"

A few framing tips, on the house

  • Mat or no mat? Mats make smaller prints feel bigger and more deliberate. Larger prints (16x20 and up) generally hold their own without one.
  • Color choice: White frames disappear into white walls and let the art lead. Black frames anchor a piece and add structure. Wood tones (oak, walnut, birch) warm things up. There’s no wrong answer; it’s about what your room is doing already.
  • Lightweight frames: They’re light, which means you can usually use a single picture hook or even a Command strip for the smaller sizes. No drywall anchors required.
  • About the mats: IKEA mats are acid-free, so they won’t yellow over time. That’s not nothing, especially if the piece matters to you, and our prints are made on archival paper for the same reason, they're built to last as long as the wall they're on.
