PI Announces Equity Investment and Strategic Partnership with Ardenton Capital

Posters International (PI) is excited to announce its strategic partnership with Ardenton Capital Corporation, a global private business investment corporation focused on meaningful business partnerships and long-term growth. The partnership will be focused on growth and continuing the legacy of over 40 years of art, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit that is interwoven into PI’s culture.

PI is an industry leader in providing published art and wall décor to the hospitality, commercial and retail markets. Founded in 1976 by Esther Cohen, among the first to wholesale art posters in Canada, their capabilities expanded when they moved to their north Toronto facility in 2007 where they quickly scaled the business to include a fine art gallery, industrious manufacturing facility and art studio with full customization capabilities. Vertical integration, a streamlined supply chain and in-house manufacturing allows PI to offer accessible décor solutions with shorter lead times and uncompromised quality – a winning formula that has contributed to their success with key industry clients. Commenting on the deal, President of PI Creative Art, Andrew Cohen said “With Ardenton, we have found the ideal partner who shares our long-term vision and can help us take PI to the next stage of growth.”

Ardenton sources and invests in passionate owners and management teams, working to remove constraints for their business partners and provide operating and financial support with a long-term view on value creation, making them the perfect catalyst for PI’s future growth plans. Commenting on the deal, Richie Cohen said: “We are proud to lead such an innovative company, growing upon the foundation our mother built. PI is going to greatly benefit from the wealth of experience the Ardenton team brings to the table.”

Since 2003, the company has been co-owned by Esther’s sons, Andrew and Richie Cohen, who will remain shareholders and retain their positions as President of PI Creative Art and President of PI Fine Art, respectively following Ardenton’s investment.

Esther Cohen has loved art all her life. So much so she created an art company. In 1976, Esther established Posters International - a Canadian company that grew into a worldwide success story. Respected by her colleagues and competitors alike, Esther was the first person in Canada to wholesale art posters, exporting these open editions worldwide. The company today continues to thrive with her sons Richie and Andrew now heading the helm.

With the expansion of the company which includes a retail gallery, art studio and framing, Esther now concentrates on PI's investment gallery renamed The Esther Cohen Gallery. She draws on her many years of experience in the fine art world, instinctively knowing which artists to buy and which ones to sell. Along with good taste and a passion for art, The Esther Cohen Gallery has been Esther's lifelong dream, completing the work she started years ago. Over the 35 years Esther has been collecting fine art prints, she has been fortunate enough to visit great artists such as Andy Warhol, Alex Katz and Sam Francis in their homes and studios. The Esther Cohen Fine Art Gallery is a result of her years collecting and admiring these artists and their contemporaries.

The distinctive collection includes limited edition graphics signed and numbered by renowned artists such as Alex Katz, Jim Dine, Robert Longo and Man Ray.
